CONSULTATION

During your initial consultation you will want to discuss costs. Dave understands that people may not be comfortable talking about money.  However, by doing so,  you will have a better idea of the range of realistic strategies and options available to you.  If costs are an obstacle, Dave may suggest ways you can attempt to solve your legal issue without an attorney.  He may also suggest that you hire him to do a limited amount of work, after which you can decide whether to continue using the services of an attorney.  Because Dave offers a No Fee Initial Consultation it costs nothing to meet and explore your legal options.         

During your first appointment you should also be prepared to explain the details concerning your matter, including names and dates and exactly what happened from beginning-to-end.  Please bring all documents which relate to your case.

The purposes of the initial consultation are to: (i) decide what you want to accomplish; (ii) decide whether that requires an attorney; and if so; (iii) decide whether Dave is the right attorney for you. Don’t be afraid to ask so-called “stupid” questions!  

ANALYSIS

The key to quality representation is thorough, accurate legal analysis, which is why attorneys are referred to as “glorified researchers.”  Although attorneys understand the law, they cannot tell you with confidence how the law will apply in your particular case without understanding your facts.  Application of the law is based on precedent, but even a slight change in the facts, between your case and existing precedent, may result in a different application of the law.  Therefore, it is important that you tell him everything you know, even if you think that some of the facts, may be harmful to your case.  Your conversations with Dave are confidential and privileged, even if you do not hire him.       

RESOLUTION

The key to the best resolution possible, is case preparation.  Once Dave has an understanding of the facts, he will thoroughly review the law to see how it has been applied in the past. Then he will formulate legal arguments in support of your case as convincingly as possible, taking into account what the counterarguments are.
